Porter Airlines is significantly expanding its winter schedule, offering its largest-ever slate of flights from Toronto Pearson and Billy Bishop City airports.

The airline said in a release it will operate up to 86 daily flights from Pearson this winter, a 19 percent increase from last year’s schedule. With this expansion, Porter is billing itself as “Toronto’s second-largest carrier,” and will operate all its flights from Pearson with the Embraer E195-E2 jet.

“Becoming the second-largest carrier in Toronto is the result of our passengers’ response to Porter’s elevated experience and the service provided by the entire Porter team,” said Kevin Jackson, president, Porter Airlines.

“As a result, we’ve become a major competitor across North America by challenging the definition of what it means to travel in economy.”

Porter will serve 23 destinations from Pearson, including four new options: West Palm Beach, Fla.; San Diego, Calif.; Thunder Bay, Ont.; and Palm Springs, Calif.

Flights to Florida have doubled, with up to 20 daily departures between Toronto and six destinations in the state, Porter said.

At Billy Bishop, Porter offers up to 94 daily flights to 15 destinations in Canada and the U.S. Across both airports, Porter said it offers up to 9,340 seats per day with service to every Canadian province.
