Two DHC-5Ds were operated as civilian freighters in Canada, registered C-FASV and C-FASY. In 2015 they were sent to Africa and have been operating there ever since. One just crashed and burned about three weeks ago, and the other is still flying. I flew both of them while they were in Canada and I can echo the sentiments of the RCAF pilots. They were graceful, rugged, useful aeroplanes. There really isn’t anything like them.
